The Wireless Messaging Services Division of ERF Wireless provides wireless broadband system design and implementation, manufactures and supplies high-power wireless infrastructure equipment to the paging and mobile industry, and owns and operates a wide-area wireless messaging service (one- and two-way cellular and paging retail). Wireless Messaging Services is also the division tasked with the responsibility of implementing new wireless broadband network construction for any of the networks that ERF Wireless owns.

WIRELESS BROADBAND SYSTEM DESIGN AND IMPEMENTATION

The wireless broadband system design and implementation function is a service that Wireless Messaging Services provides on a contract basis to other divisions and subsidiaries of ERF Wireless, as well as to outside organizations. The managers, engineers and installers of Wireless Messaging Services who support this service are all seasoned veterans of the wireless industry with many years of operational experience on a wide variety of hardware, software and installation technologies. The contract experience of this group ranges from the design of localized wireless broadband LAN applications for large buildings to the design, construction and testing of multi-city regional broadband wireless networks.

MANUFACTURING AND SUPPLY OF HIGH-POWER WIRELESS INFRASTRUCTURE EQUIPMENT

The manufacturing and supply of high-power wireless infrastructure equipment under the ERF Wireless brand is accomplished primarily at the ERF Wireless corporate facility in League City, Texas, although some components are sourced from offshore locations. The product line consists of a variety of power amplifiers, transmitters and base stations ranging in power from 50 to 500 watts and covering all of the major frequency bands of the wireless messaging industry. In addition, ERF Wireless has developed unique technology that allows for full hot switching of redundant wireless equipment where required. The sales personnel, engineers and technicians supporting the wireless infrastructure products within ERF Wireless average more than twenty years of wireless industry experience.

WIDE-AREA MESSAGING SERVICES

The wide-area wireless messaging services of ERF Wireless are provided by a composite of the various wireless messaging (paging and cellular retail) companies that have been acquired over the past few years. Although paging has seen a steady decline from its peak in the late 1990s, it continues to provide a stable communications platform for many B-to-B applications, including service providers, hospitals, construction workers and commercial contractors. Many paging companies have recently seen their customer counts and revenues stabilize and, in some cases, increase. With their high per-customer margins and low operating costs, paging companies are ideal candidates for the ERF Wireless strategy of acquiring companies with recurring revenue. As a part of ERF Wireless, these companies can improve their margins by centralizing the majority of overhead costs to achieve economies of scale. Also, in many cases, paging companies have broadened their product base by offering wireless broadband service from the same towers that are utilized for the paging service, thus providing another revenue opportunity for ERF Wireless.
